I wanted to share something fun that I noticed last week! Check it...

BlogHer just added me to their site! I'm under Feminism (above), and under their Career and Style sections.

Don't freak, it's not a huge deal. They have TONS of bloggers. (You just have to submit your blog for approval.) But I'm excited to be involved in an org that promotes female bloggers! Hopefully I'll make some good connections along the way! Check out their site to find new blogs to read sorted by category!


In other news, I'm back to working out (like the rest of the population). Hoping to hold out longer than 2 weeks like most! I joined a small church gym pretty much for the sole fact that they have an indoor track. I want to be able to run without the darkness and freezing cold that is Kentucky at this time of the year.

Last week I ran for the first time in at least 2 months??? (My life got a way from me a bit there at the end of last year.) Imagine my face when I walked into the track and saw the sign that said: "17 laps = 1 mile".

SAY WHAT???? I was expecting like 10-12.. but 17?? Holy monkey!

But anyways, ran 2 miles on Thursday. Went back Friday after work and planned to run 2.5-3 miles. (The furthest I have ever run is a 5K, so 3.1 miles.) Well I got to mile 3 and my legs just kept going (you know when you are just in auto pilot??) so I went with it. Before I knew it I was at 3.5 miles. Well, hell, at that point I was like, "Now I HAVE to get to 4, I've already gone this far!" Not gonna lie, the last few laps were rough, but I made it! 4 miles! 68 laps! My new record!

Random thought I had during this 4 miler... In basketball practice in high school we used to have to run a "15 in 5" which was 15 laps around the basketball court in 5 minutes. It was always super hard, we hated our coach for it, people were throwing up, and one teammate who shall not be named actually PEED down her leg during it because she was too scared to ask to go to the bathroom during the run. (Very thin line between commitment and crazy!) Anyway... that was when we were in the best shape of our lives! Well I noticed when I was lapping, that there is a basketball court directly below us, meaning I was pretty much running around a basketball court. I was doing 17 laps (1 mile) in about 11 minutes (I'm slow). But it occurred to me that I used to run 15 laps in 5 minutes?? How was that even possible?? And no freakin' WONDER we hated it so much! Coaches are seriously cray.

Also, during those last few laps when all I wanted to do was stop, these 2 songs played on my random shuffle. Talk about some girl power songs that will definitely keep you moving! I highly recommend you add them to your running playlist!

The next morning after some shopping at the mall with Amanda (Victoria Secret semi-annual sale, ladies!) I went back to the gym to just run 1 mile and walk a bit. I was SO sore and wanted to help the legs out a bit. My feet are still aching pretty bad. I realize I pushed myself too much too soon but just the fact that I ran that far is amazing to me.

To most people (especially all my crazy running friends out there), this is nothing, but if you would have told me a year ago that I could run 4 miles without stopping, I would have cried laughing and had you committed.

So, one small accomplishment for mankind, one big leap for Kaliwood!

Next goal: 5 miles!! But going to ease into it, I promise!


Last thing for today! Imagine my surprise when I checked the weather this morning and saw this in store for us!

50's and 60's this weekend?? In the dead of winter?? Yes, please! Hoping it doesn't rain the entire Sat and Sun so I can run outside!! Yipee!
