What Are You Afraid Of?

In honor of National Panic Day that was a few days ago, I thought I'd share what makes me panic. The fact that I have to write about my fears in list form is pretty bad. Does that make me a big ole scared-y cat?

Is that one of those teenage mutant ninja ones??

I'm writing this in hopes that you all will share YOUR fears will me as well so I don't feel so bad! So here you have it...

1. Entomophobia

Fear of insects. Mostly spiders. But also those gross centipede things with a zillion legs. *shiver* I was going to put a picture with each of these fears, but I didn't want to startle you with a big creepy crawler as soon as you entered Kaliwood today.

2. Acrophobia

Fear of heights. This might be the worst one. If I get too high I literally become paralyzed and can't move. I love roller coasters, but just hate the going up part. Really wish I could get over this one.

3. Astraphobia

Fear of loud noises. Specifically: thunder. Growing up I was terrified of storms. I could never be alone if there was loud thunder, so mom and dad always had a guest in bed on those nights. Now my fear is more tolerable, but a loud CRACK and I'm hibernating under the covers/pillows.

4. Nyctophobia

Fear of the dark. I'm getting a little better about this one. But even walking around the house in the dark kinda freaks me out. I just like the light!!!! I'm normally OK if I'm with someone else. But this mixed with my fear of loud noises makes me hate all scary movies. I don't even mess with them. I can handle aliens and epic battles, but religious exorcisms? NOT HAPPENING.

{I realize at this point I sound like a child. Moving on...}

5. Thanatophobia

Fear of dying. This one pretty much speaks for itself. But for someone who is 24 and still has a long way to go, I still have a serious fear about "the end".

6. Claustrophobia

I wasn't really aware of this fear growing up. But now if see a show about people squeezing through cave openings or something like that, I get very anxious. If I'm in a very small space and start thinking about how enclosed it is and the limited ways out, the fear escalates. Mind over matter!

Have you ever overcome a fear? I'm very skeptical about the technique of "facing your fears". I have been on NUMEROUS roller coasters and the fear of heights hasn't diminishing one bit. So, not sure I believe it. Has anyone had any success with this?

Will you share your honest fears? What are you afraid of?

  3. So I tried to write this post and then my computer went crazy and deleted it. I couldn't be bothered to rewrite it but here you are instead, Astraphobia: fear of storms. I'm absolutely petrified of storms. I can't keep it together. Hence why I need to move immediately. Number 2, Demophobia: fear of crowds. I hate being around large groups of people and it's just getting worse as I get older unfortunately. People are nuts! Especially in groups. Can't handle it.

Feel free to go read my blog anyway :) rnay225.wordpress.com

  4. I am terrified of height. I get dizzy and nauseous. Like just going up a flight of stairs. And I get so scared that I will literally almost fall because I am so scared to fall lol. Insane right?

    Thanks for linking up!

  7. my parents always had a little guest in their bed during thunderstorms!!!! ME!

and like you, even to this day, i'd rather SWEAT MY ASS OFF under the covers, and heaviest blankets than see the lightening and the loud crazy cracks of thunder.
