4th of July Weekend Wrap-Up

Goooood morning! I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend and that it went much slower than mine did. Seriously, how can 4 days feel like 2 hours?? Guess that's the sign of a good life!

Here what went down in Kaliwood...

This is how we are currently living.. hoarder style. Before you nominate me for the show, just know that this is not normal and only temporary!

Earlier this week I was really bummed that we didn't get the house we bid on (see here). So, we decided to make the day a celebration instead and cheers to closing on our old place! *clink*

There was a LOT of inside time chilling with the dog this weekend because it rained. All day. Every day. RAIN. Piper was so wound up and it broke my heart I couldn't take her to a dog park to let her run around.

I pretty much mastered the sock bun. Like I said, there was a lot of rain.

On the night of the 4th we went to our friend's downtown to grill out and watch the fireworks. It was moved inside because of the rain. Here's what I brought: fruit kabobs. I planned on using cheese cubes for the "white" accent, but they broke apart when I tried to slide them on the kabobs. (You know I had to mess SOMETHING up.) So these were just red and blue. I thought these were really handy. Everyone could just grab a kabob when making their plate and not have to scoop a bunch of fruit from a bowl.

There were rocket pops. Oh, childhood.

There were dog snuggles...

 And there were cat snuggles...

Saturday night we had another 4th party at Tim's coworkers home. So I brought fruit kabobs again with marshmallows this time!

And they had a serious firework set up...

I LOVE fireworks :) And the smell of fireworks... OK, yea that's weird.

Oh.. and there was a bounce house at this party. For the kids (obviously). Then I look over and TIM is in the bounce house. And the kids are tackling him. I have this all on video but I figured I subjected him to enough embarrassment in recent posts

Sunday rolled around and LET THERE BE LIGHT!!! The sun decided to come out of hibernation and it stopped raining! So I saddled up Piper and we went for a nice long run/walk. We were almost home when she plopped down in the grass (see above). Mission Accomplished. She finally got out all of that energy!

Tim also flexed his cooking muscles this weekend. He made some salmon and the most yummy cheesy/broccoli rice for lunch one day...

And a delicious whole chicken on the grill with corn on the cob and fruit for dinner. NOM NOM

Overall it was a nice relaxing long weekend. Would have been much better if the weather cooperated, but hey, it happens.

House Update:
Now for the good news! If you read my last couple posts you know that we've been on the house hunt. And I was really bummed when I didn't get this house. But, the next day Tim found the EXACT same house, just in a different location (and without the Easter egg walls!) So, it's in a better neighborhood, nicer finishes, and bigger yard. If all goes as planned, this baby is ours in 25 days! YAY!!!

I'll keep you all posted! (DUH.) HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

  1. So exciting that y'all {hopefully} have found a house!!---timing is everything!

We had tons of rain, and didn't even get to see ANY fireworks. Our little town rescheduled them for this weekend, so hopefully we'll get to see some then. July 4th just isn't the same without fireworks and sunshine!

    1. You know what I've learned about the sock bun? It starts out a HOT mess as you're rolling it. Every time I think it's going to be a disaster. But by the last roll, it somehow works out. So keep trying!

      Thanks for the well wishes!
