2014 Workout Summary

Welp, 2014 is now donezo. Which means Map My Run just emailed me my 2014 Yearly Workout Summary. You may recall last January I shared my 2013 Summary. Which was rough. Really rough.

To refresh your memory...

I am happy to report that 2014 kicked 2013's butt....

Woo-hoo! 82 more workouts! 14,962 more calories burned! And that was achieved even with a few months of couch-potato-ness with my stress fractured foot.

Now while I sit here patting myself on the back, I have to remember that yes, this looks much better than the previous year. But 2013 wasn't hard to beat. I still want to do a lot more.

Luckily, with the #CommitToFit challenges I've been doing, I got a jump start on my "resolutions". Honestly, I'm not really concerned with what time of the year it is (and I can't wait for the resolutioners to get out of the gym), I'm just concerned with personally getting more consistent with my fitness efforts.

And I know it's possible. Because I've already been doing it.

It just so happens that towards the end of 2014 I found some things that work for me (like going to the gym before work, swimming, weight routine, and now working out with Tim) that are making it smooth sailing through the start of 2015. So I'm hoping to just continue this momentum.

I was doing really well. I was feeling good and could tell my pants were fitting a bit easier! Then I went to New Orleans last week for New Years, and well... took a few steps back.

But I always try to remember that yesterday doesn't impact what you do today, so I'm determined to get back on track this week. That small progress I was making was all the motivation I needed!

I've gotten away from running as my sole workout. And that makes me somewhat sad. Because I really did fall in love with it. But even though it's not my go-to workout at the time, it doesn't mean I can't work it in every now and then. Hopefully I'll get back to the runner's high at some point. I'm sure it'll be easier once spring hits and I can go outside.

Another thing I've noticed is that sometimes you just DON'T want to go to the gym or don't want to work out. Like the other day, I wasn't feeling it. But we went anyway. I did a strength workout. Was it my best? No. Did I get all hyped after it and want to conquer the world? No. But I went. I did something. And there's always next time to do it better.

And I find that the more I go to the gym and the more I eat healthy, the more I want to do those things. This week of laziness and glutony just makes me want to be lazy some more. So once I tackle those urges and get back on track, it'll be easier to stay on track. Something to remember.

Hope everyone had a great Holiday Season. Now it's back to the grind. NOLA pics up later this week!
