KALIWOOD Awards ~ 2015 Academy Awards

Best Dressed: Gold

Jamie Chung in Yanina Couture

She may not have been the biggest start at the Academy Awards, but she stole the fashion show! This was one of the first dresses I saw walk the carpet and... just swoon. This is like Katy Perry's fireworks if you added sophistication.

Best Dressed: Silver

Naomi Watts in Armani Prive

This is a KALIWOOD winner all the way, because I would totally wear this. If you mix glamour with a touch of edge, you'll win me over every time.

Best Dressed: Bronze

Rosamund Pike in Givenchy

You go, Gone Girl. I think what I like most about this dress is the unepected neck line. I love that they didn't go with the typical sweetheart and did something unique. The waist deatils are also devine. Not a big fan of the corset back and the matchy shoes, but overall the look is stunning.

Most Age Appropriate

Patricia Arquette in Rosetta Getty

It seems as women age in this industry they struggle to dress appropriately but still remain relevant in the style world. I think she did a great job of being fashionable but not trying to dress like a young star.

  Most Polarizing

Lupita Nyong'o in Calvin Klein Collection

The ones you make the biggest statement usually get the most love and the most hate. I do love the concept of this dress. She looks beautiful too. My only hesistation with it is that the top half is awfully bulky for her very small frame. I also don't like the line of pearls between the bust. I wish that was just a deep V in the front and not a cut out. But overall, I'm on the love side of this spectrum.

Just Missed The Mark

Emma Stone in Elie Saab

Love the color, beading, and the shape. Also love her hair and makeup. But something is wrong with the fit. Emma is tiny and this almost looks maternity on her. If it was tailored correctly, it would be perfection. This makes me Elie Sad.

Worst Dressed Runner Up

Zoe Saldana in Atelier Versace

Zoe is gorgeous and tiny. This dress gives her the appearance of large hips that she doesn't have. I love the top half that is fitted and has ruching. But from the mid-section down it's a hot mess. The frilly thing down the middle reminds me of a prom dress gone wrong. Also, I'm not digging her up-do. It's a bit too juvenile and not sophisticated.

Worst Dressed

Julianne Moore in Chanel

First, white is not the best choice for a pale red head. Also, the drop waist detail doesn't really work here. If the band was on her natural waist, I think it would have helped immensely.

Before you go I would like to give a shout out to the men of the red carpet. There were several in dark saturated-colored suits that were different than your typical black or grey. These sharp navy suits were everything and I loved them!

Miles Teller in Prada.

Eddie Redmayne in Alexander McQueen

  1. I agree with the pearl dress..a deep-v would have been perfect!

  2. I hate to say it, but I disagree with the Jamie Chung selection. I thought it looked like something a teenage actress should wear to the Emmys. I loved Naomi & Rosamund though! And, I liked that you gave a shout-out to the guys...I thought Common was the most dashing.
