Four Teeth Lighter - I'll Take It

I had my wisdom teeth pulled last Thursday. All four of them. BLAH. I'm still not feeling 100% but I'm glad I'm this far along in the healing process already.

I never really had any pain or problems associated with my wisdom teeth. But, I just spend a pretty penny on Invisalign (post to come later), and I didn't want those little jerks under the gums to shift my now perfectly straight teeth.

Also, once taking a look at the X-rays, those jerks were big and sideways and looking like they were definitely up to no good. So they had to go.

I haven't had any type of surgery since I was about seven when they cut my abnormally large tonsils out of my throat. (Apparently they were trying to strangle me.) I guess that's the reason I was a hot mess last Thursday morning. I just didn't know what to expect and I was nervous about being sedated. As soon as the nurses started hooking me up I lost it.

Luckily, they just pump a bunch of stuff in your veins and you pass out and wake up 45 minutes later talking all kinds of nonsense. The doctor told Tim they gave me more "juice" than others since I was all worked up. Apparently I'm not great with any type of medical procedure. Looking forward to pregnancy.. whoo hoo!

Four teeth lighter. They told Tim they were so big they had to use a drill. Thank whoever invented sedation meds for said sedation meds.

There is a video of me in the car after surgery and I must admit it is hysterical. But I look absolutely ridiculous and pathetic so I'm not sure I'm ready to post it on the big bad blog. Facebook was hard enough.

Now on day 5, I feel better in terms of not being in as much pain and not being dizzy from all the meds. But I still feel like there are big blueberries shoved behind my teeth and I so badly want to remove them.

I'm also still sticking to soft-like foods. Even though I want nothing more than to house some Chipotle chips and guacamole right now.

Do you know how hard it is to watch Tim eat all of the things I love to eat for four days while I slurp down yet another spoonful of applesauce?

Let's just say I think we should start considering it as an alternative form of torture. It's effective.

Until next time!

  1. Glad everything went ok. Not eating crunchy/chewy things were the worst for me! I got so tired of soup and yogurt! However, I did use that "soft foods diet" to my advantage when it came to ice cream. :)

  2. ouch. this hurts just to read! i had a tooth extracted a few months ago, but they didn't knock me out. i'm terrified that my wisdom teeth will suddenly be crazy and need to be taken out.. i'm hoping now that i'm 28 that won't happen? lol. but anyway, i ate a ton of milkshakes (with a spoon!) afterwards because it was the only thing that didn't hurt!

  3. I had an impacted wisdom tooth and had to do emergency "surgery" which was really a huge needle stuck into my gums (which didn't take so I had to get it done twice) and the dentist digging the damn thing out with all of his strength. While I was awake. Since I'm a shark I have extras that need to come out and I'm greatly looking forward to your experience!

  4. Getting wisdom teeth removed can be difficult, but it’s often necessary. This is especially true if they’re impacted or growing in sideways, as yours are. It’s all too easy for just a few teeth to throw off tooth alignment in the rest of your mouth.

  5. At least that’s done and over with. And it’s good that you did not wait before they became quite the nuisance. It may have been a bit of pain to endure, but at least you won’t have to deal with it anymore later on. Thanks for sharing your story with us. Cheers!
