This is a contributed post, written by Laura Scott.

When it comes to event planning, whatever the event, there’s always a lot that needs to be done. Whether you’re organizing a meeting or birthday party, there’s always plenty that needs to be prepared. Out of all the types of events, there are, birthday parties have to be the hardest to plan. The reason for this is simple - you want them to be amazing. Plus, there’s that pressure of not wanting to let down the birthday boy or girl. Of course, you could just throw them a do with cake, balloons and dancing. But if you want their birthday to be more memorable, it’s important to think outside of the box.

To plan a unique birthday celebration that’s fun and enjoyable, here’s what you need to do:

Find the perfect venue
The first thing that you need to do is find the ideal venue. This will, of course, depend on what type of celebration you want to throw, the amount of guests, and your budget. In most cases, a community center is a good option, as there’s always plenty of room. However, for a party that’s a little more upmarket, renting a hotel conference room is a good idea. Of course, if you’re hoping to organize a certain type of activity, such as laser tag, you’ll need to find birthday party places that offer that. Before booking a venue, make sure that it’s suitable for what you plan on using it for.

Choose a theme
An easy way to make a birthday celebration unique is to choose a theme. Whether you opt to organize a fancy dress celebration or simply a themed affair, this is a great way to make your celebration fun and enjoyable. Even if the fancy dress theme isn’t the main part of the event, it can still be a great way for the birthday boy or girl to have a laugh with their friends. Plus, the entertainment, food, and other aspects of the party can also feature aspects of the theme.

Look for entertainment that’s different to the norm
To make the celebration memorable for all the right reasons, it’s important to make the entertainment different to the norm. How about having a cocktail class as part of the party? Or what about hiring a climbing wall? If there’s an activity or hobby that the birthday boy or girl has always wanted to try, why not incorporate that into the celebration? By coming up with unique ways to make their party fun, you can ensure that the celebration is as memorable as possible.

Pick an awesome cake
What’s a birthday party without cake? When it comes to choosing the cake, the first thing that you should do is think of how you can make it unique. Perhaps you could have a photo pasted onto the cake? Or maybe you could opt for a cake in a unique flavour or design? There are various companies that offer alcoholic cakes in cocktail flavours. These types of cakes are fun, different, and ideal for adult parties.

There you have it, everything that you need to know about planning a unique birthday celebration.
