Don't Re-Cycle Your New Year Resolutions: Pedal Yourself To Fitness

There are few subjects that divide people quite so stubbornly as New Year Resolutions. On one side, you have the many people who see them as a chance to shake off old habits and form new ones. On the other, you have a growing band who are skeptical.

In short, their philosophy can be summed up as follows: "If there's something you should be doing, do it. If there's something you should stop, stop it."

There are decent arguments on both sides. Certainly, if you have bad habits, stopping is something you should always look to do sooner rather than later. On the other hand, a year ending is a time that makes people reflective. "Could that year have been better, and how?" is a reasonable thought.

If you want to launch into a New Year as you mean to go on, it's a perfect time to re-evaluate. Particularly where your health is concerned.

Find A New Way To Get Fit
If you are someone who regularly makes (and breaks) New Year Resolutions, your garage probably bears the scars. "What about boxing?" you may ask yourself one December 31st. When you go into your garage for a spring clean in April, you see your punchbag. You repeat the question, with the stress on the "about" this time.

Nonetheless, it's worth persisting. Sometimes it takes a few goes to get the best habits in place. But why not make it a practical way of getting fit? Take up cycling - as well as being good for you, it's an efficient and green form of transport. Tips on the best equipment for you can be found over at this website and elsewhere.

Be Ready For Your Own Rebellion
It's amazing how quickly those of us who make resolutions come around to the skeptics' way of thinking once we've tried for awhile. "What was I thinking?" you ask, as you arrive home shivering. "Those people are right - you shouldn't take something up just because it's a New Year!".

Not so fast. You've started something, and you should stay the course. It takes as much as two months of doing something for it to feel like a habit. That takes you to March and by then, getting fit outdoors is a lot more pleasurable. It's also when you'll be looking to socialize a bit more - so those party clothes need to fit.

Find Ways To Keep It Fascinating
If something feels like a chore, it becomes harder to do it with enthusiasm and fully commit. When it comes to keeping fit, commitment is essential. So while the first few weeks of a habit like cycling can be spent picking yourself up after each new fall, once you get good at it you have more freedom.

How well do you know the town where you live? Or the county? Longer cycling trips allow you to see sights you may not have seen, or have ignored when you see them from a car. Set out a destination for yourself - a point at which you can reward yourself with a treat. Before too long, cycling will just be how you get to new, exciting places.

Why You Should Focus On Your Fitness In The New Year

With Christmas just gone, we’re all feeling a little larger than we used to. It’s no surprise after the amount of food consumed over the festive period! The good news is, new year gives the perfect excuse to commit to our fitness. After Christmas, it’s easy to feel sluggish and unhealthy. Change that in the new year by setting resolutions to combat the problem! To encourage you towards a fitness resolution, we’ve come up with a list of reasons why you should!

HEALTH

We all know getting, and keeping fit can greatly improve our health. The benefits of exercise are numerous and vary depending on what type of exercise you do. From lowering risk of disease to helping heart health. Consider the options available. If it’s stamina and leg strength you want, work out on a treadmill. If it’s body strength you want, start lifting weights! You could opt for both and invest in a rowing machine like those mentioned at www.homerower.com. How you go about your fitness journey is up to you, but whatever you do, it’s sure to improve your general health. Even gentle exercise like walking can help your body. Health should always be a priority, but what better time to make an effort? Start the new year right by investing in your body the way you should.

WEIGHT

Of course, it’s not just health that benefits from exercise. You can also lose weight if you get your exercise regime right. We can try all the diets in the world, but none of them compare to exercise for helping shed the pounds. If you want to reach your target weight in the new year, get moving! The more you move, the more you’re going to lose. Look into the more vigorous exercises to see which burn the most calories. Remember, too, that a lot of the time, toning can help you get the body you want. Focusing on stomach crunches and sit ups will help your stomach too! If you’re unsure where to start with exercise for weight loss, take a look at the options mentioned on www.mydiet.com. Finding out what type of exercise you should be doing will make the journey easier for you!

MENTALITY

As well as the physical benefits of exercise, there are the mental ones. Less mentioned, but equally important. Exercise can make you feel good. Not only does it release endorphins and adrenaline, but it also makes you feel more positive! The improvements to health and body will build your confidence, too. If you’re looking for an exercise that helps the mind, try yoga. Yoga focuses on both body and mind to ensure happiness. We all want to start the year off in a good mental space, right?

If this hasn’t convinced you, research the benefits on your own. There’s no reason not to set a fitness goal for your new year. Make a firm plan to ensure you stick to the resolution. This goal is one that won’t let you down!

Create, Innovate and Try Something New With Your Cosmetics Before It's Too Late

If you find something that suits you in terms of beauty products, it can be difficult to change your styles.

After all, the primary reason that we wear cosmetics is that we want to enhance our appearance. We want to build on the things that nature didn't give us. We want more sculpted cheekbones, a bigger pout, longer fluttering eyelashes. If we find techniques, colors and products that make that happen for us - then why should we be concerned with changing?

There's some real validity to that argument, but it's time to play Devil's Advocate. If there is a valid reason to continue doing as you always have, then is there a reason not to change things a little bit?

Beauty products and cosmetics should be about fun; reinvention; trying new things and using our facial contours as a canvas. There's nothing wrong with sticking with the same thing - but there's plenty to be gained from switching it up. Don't believe me? Here are a few scenarios...

1. You have an opportunity to be brave.

So you decide, right on the second you're about to complete checkout at https://www.thankyourbeauty.com/, to throw in a product you've not tried before. It's a different color or just something totally new to you - a bronzer, a primer, a liquid lipstick.

When it comes to actually trying that product, then you have a chance to be brave. You've already had one moment of experimentation when you chose to buy it, so why not ratchet up a notch? At times, we have a tendency to use makeup as a mask - so why not try a different one for once? It's not going to freeze to your face; if you don't like it, you can remove it. So be brave.

2. You might love it.

This happens more often than you would expect. You find a trend such as winged eyeliner or smoky eyes and immediately dismiss it. You decide it's not for you, that it won't suit you, that it could never suit you...

... and then you try it. And you glance back at your reflection and can't quite believe what you're seeing. Not only does it look good, but you love the way it makes you look. It boosts your confidence and gives you a newfound respect for trying something new. Something you never would have discovered if you hadn't given it a go.

3. What you love might go out of style.

Articles like this http://www.cosmopolitan.com/style-beauty/beauty/g5770/early-2000s-makeup-trends/ love to point out how time has changed in what’s considered stylish in beauty. If you find yourself sticking to the same routine for years on end, eventually, your habits are going to go out of fashion. If you're still using concealer on your lips like everyone did in the 00s or think eyeshadow should be applied up to the brow bone - it's time to move on. Even the modern looks you're so sure and confident of will eventually become passe if you're not willing to try something innovative every once in awhile. So don't limit yourself: give something new a go at the next opportunity.

Facial Skin Texture Problems? The A, B, C Fixes You Need

Credit Here

Your facial skin is one of those things that you just can't hide. When you lack confidence in how it looks, it's a huge mental stumbling block to attempt to get over. It's right there, the place that people look, the focal point of attention on you.

Aside from the more noticeable issues such as acne, one of the most obvious facial skin flaws is with texture. When we see adverts for skincare, the skin on show tends to have been airbrushed to within an inch of its life. The models are poreless, their skin the texture of cut glass that wouldn't know a wrinkle, fine line or just general roughness if it hit it in the - well, the face.

For most women, the reality is much different. Poor texture can have a direct cause, such as hormonal change, bumps from acne, previous scarring or even rosacea. Or it can have no cause at all, just a blight on your existence that seems to rudely announce itself to everyone you meet.

Combating poor skin texture, therefore, becomes a focus for many women. Below, I'm going to run through three of the most effective techniques, from direct solving of the problem to how to disguise it best. What works for you will depend on your skin type, how clear your skin is currently, your general routine and how you respond to treatments - but all should have some impact. In some ways, it's as easy as A, B and C…

Credit Here

A - Age Proof

The most obvious problem with facial skin texture is ageing. Fine lines and wrinkles can make even the best foundation appear papery in texture, like the top layer of skin is looser over the facial structure.

It appears to look like that because it is just like that. After the age of 21, we begin to lose our collagen reserves. Collagen is a protein that gives skin its elasticity, hence why we get wrinkles. To restore it, team both a collagen-rich face cream with internal supplements. You won't look like you're 18 again, but it should make a big difference.

B - Buff

As in, exfoliation. If it's not ageing that's the cause, then the problem might be that your skin is covered in dead cells. These aren't obvious to the naked eye, but they can make a startling difference to the overall appearance of your skin.

For exfoliation, you have two options. Manual exfoliation, such as facial scrubs, remove the top layer of skin and encourage regrowth. If you find this too harsh on sensitive skin, then try chemical exfoliation.

C - Cover

Foundations like A'pieu Air-Fit cushion foundation and others targeted at this problem are designed to glide over poor texture. Rather than falling into fine lines or sticking to dry patches like most foundations do, these specialist options will mask rather than pool over problem areas.

It may be a temporary fix, but while you work on the other improvements above it should make life a little more bearable.

Top 5 Places To Visit In Thailand

If you're planning on travelling around Thailand but aren't too sure where you should go, here are the top 5 places you need to see!

Thailand Islands
The islands off the coast of Thailand are famous throughout the world for their beautiful beaches, others for their gorgeous scenery and some even claimed their fame for the non-stop party atmosphere. There are three main sets of islands in Thailand. To the east of Bangkok, there are Ko Samet and Ko Chang, in the Gulf Ko Samui lie Ko Pha Ngan and Ko Tao, and in the Andaman Phuket and Ko Phi Phi. Phuket is the country’s largest and most developed island, connected to the mainland by two bridges. Ko Phi Phi is famous for the movie 'The Beach,' while Ko Tao is Thailand’s diving mecca.

Bangkok
Bangkok is a buzzing cosmopolis of high rise buildings, glittering nightclubs, bustling markets, ancient temples, magnificent palaces, and streets lined with vendors selling souvenirs and tantalising foods. While the city is sometimes described as a concrete jungle, jam-packed with noisy traffic and air pollution, Bangkok is not without its natural beauty that is seen in its remaining canals, green spaces, and flowering tropical plants. Located only 150 km from central Bangkok, you can find the beautiful Pattaya beach. This is a beautiful place to stay over the weekend.

Khao Sok National Park
Considered by many to be one of Thailand’s most beautiful wildlife reserves, the Khao Sok National Park covers jungle forests, limestone karsts, rivers and lakes in the Surat Thani province of southern Thailand. The reserve is home to some of the most amazing wildlife in Thailand such as Asian elephants, wild boar, barking deer, bears, Malayan tapirs and various monkeys breeds like Gibbons, pig-tailed macaques, and langurs. There are several trails in the park from which visitors can choose to enjoy trekking through the jungle to spot wildlife, soak under beautiful waterfalls, swim in natural pools and admire stunning vistas from elevated viewpoints.

Kanchanaburi
Located in western Thailand and admired for its beautiful scenery and accessibility to national parks and waterfalls, Kanchanaburi is best known for the Bridge over the River Kwai. Several museums and war cemeteries all present information about the city and its bridge during the 1940s Japan occupation. Outside of Kanchanaburi are several national parks, including Erawan and Srinakarind National Parks, which offer beautiful scenery, waterfalls, and even caves to visit.

Railay
Railay is a small peninsula that is only accessible by boat due to the high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access. These cliffs attract rock climbers from all over the world, but the area is also a popular attraction in Thailand due to its beautiful beaches and quiet relaxing atmosphere. Almost every patch of buildable land fronting in the eastern and western part of the peninsula has been taken over by bungalow resorts, and development is creeping up into the forest behind. But much of the construction is hidden among trees or set amid prettily landscaped gardens.

Ways You Can Dramatically Change The Look Of Your Face

If you are looking to change the look of your face, there are lots of options you can consider.  Some are temporary, and some are more long lasting. Before making the decision, you need to research the options and think carefully about your choice. After all, there is nothing that is more representative of you, than your own face.

woman-659352_1280.jpg

Contouring
The first thing to consider if you are looking to make a dramatic change in the look of your face is contouring. This is a temporary beauty solution that is applied through makeup. It's basically a redrawing of the face using light and shadow to change its shape.
While it might sound like it isn't that effective, it really can be. Especially if you give it, a few practice runs before you do it for real. It can actually make your face appear longer, shorter, slimmer or fuller, depending on the methods you use. The best thing about it is that all you need is a bronzer, or contour powder and a highlighter. See the tutorials here for some more guidance.

Facelift
Something that is a more permanent option is to get a facelift. This is where the skin on your face is operated on to give you a smoother complexion. It can help to get rid of problems like eye bag or jowls.

Of course, as it is a surgical procedure it is a more extreme option to consider. So lots of thought needs to be put in before you decide to go for it. Remember to see a medical professional that is a facelift specialist before you make any decisions and get their advice on what type of procedure would give you the best results.

Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion is a semi-permanent procedure where the first few layers of skin are polished from the face. It reveals new fresh skin below which can be less wrinkled and much younger and firmer looking. This is appropriate for those people that are concerned that their face is aging, but they are not yet ready to go the whole hog and have a face lift quite yet.

Although it is worth remembering that it is a procedure that can cause some uncomfort, as the skin is often a little raw afterward.

Lip Fillers
Lip fillers are another semi-permanent beauty procedure that can help people change the look of their face in a dramatic way.  It is when chemicals are injected into the lips to make them plumper and fuller.

The size and shape of our lips can have a massive effect on the way that our face looks. Especially if they were small to start with, as they help to balance out that quadrant of the face, and give it a much more balanced look overall.

Haircut

expocosmetica-1314550_1280.jpg

Another temporary solution that can help you make a dramatic change to your face is something as simple as a haircut. Yes, the way that we have our hair can help to frame our face, shape it, and highlight our best features.

For example, square faces, in particular, can be balanced out by high hairstyles making them seem much more in proportion. Also if you're concerned about having a high forehead, then a blunt cut fringe works well to reduce the overall surface area of the skin on show.

Two Choices That Can Make Next Year Be Your Best Yet

Towards the end of the year, we often get a moment of reflection. After the holidays a new year rolls around, and it is the perfect time for a fresh start. The end of a year is time to look back on the past year and think about all that might have been achieved. You might be looking back and thinking about what hasn’t been achieved either. For many people, the new year can be a little upsetting because of the latter. They might think of the things that didn’t happen for them or the things that they missed. But things can turnaround. There are plenty of things that we can do to make sure that next year we won’t have the same regrets. The best part? It only requires two choices. Here are the two choices you need to make and how they can help you to have the best year of your life next year.

happiness-826932_1280.jpg

Gratitude
Many studies around the world have shown the some of the happiest and successful people in life, are the ones that have an attitude of gratitude. Being positive and thankful for all you have is so important. It can affect all aspects of your life. Having an attitude of gratitude is a choice, though. It is hard for anyone to just be naturally happy or grateful for everything in their life. But being able to be positive in whatever situation you are presented with, is a choice. You have to choose to maintain a positive attitude, not giving up is important.

Look at the people around you. Do you know people that are so happy and grateful for all they have? We all know people that are happy in their work because it means that have a job. We all know people that take each day as it comes and embraces it. They appreciate their health and like to help others. They like to work and don’t feel any kind of entitlement. How much nicer is it to be around people like that? On the flip side, we all know a few ‘Debbie Downers,’ right? The people that just suck the energy out of the room and the ones that blame everyone else for their circumstances. The people that chose to be a victim all of the time and resent having to work or help others aren't the best people to be around. So it goes to show that you can have similar circumstances, but you can choose to look at the circumstances differently. When you choose positivity and gratitude, it will make your life so much better and more fulfilling.

Need to Learn

When we embrace learning, in whatever form, then it means our life will be so much more rich. It will mean that failure isn’t the end, but something that we can learn from. It also means that you will improve your life. If you learn at every opportunity and work hard, you will have much more options in life and are more likely to succeed. Choosing to have a need to learn means you appreciate the world more and it will make such a difference to you in the coming year.

Simple Changes You Can Make For Better Health in 2017

Getting fit and living a healthier life features on many people’s lists of resolutions. Any day is a good day to start living well, but a new year is great as it can give you the motivation you need to make a change. It gives you chance to reflect, and look at where you are and where you want to be. You don’t need to make vows to change your life (unless you want to!) actually small changes can make a huge difference. Plus, smaller things are easier to stick with and are more likely to develop into healthy routines rather than falling by the wayside. Here are some of the small changes you can make to feel healthier in 2017.

Make Healthy Food and Drink Swaps
Pasta, rice, bread- any time you’re eating a grain choose a wholemeal variety. It doesn’t spike your blood sugar in the same way leading to food cravings, and provides your body with more nutrients and fibre. Whole grains reduce cholesterol and heart disease, and are good for your body. It’s a simple switch, and after a while you’ll adjust to the difference in taste. You might even begin to prefer wholemeal varieties of things as they definitely have more flavour! Instead of adding full fat milk to your cereal each day, how about almond or hazelnut milk which is naturally lower in fat and calories. Instead of drinking fizzy drinks, infuse water with fruit and herbs.

herbal-tea-herbs-tee-mint-159203.jpeg

Find an Activity You Love
Don’t be one of these people that joins the gym in January and has stopped going by March. It’s easily done, motivations are high at the start of the year but the gym isn’t for everyone. If you know that you don’t enjoy it, it’s hard to get to or makes you feel self conscious, find an exercise you do like instead. It could be walking or jogging in the park. It could be a sport, swimming, trampolining, Zumba or something else entirely. You could try looking for a fitness center in your local area and seeing if there are any groups or classes on that interest you. Once you find something you enjoy, exercising won’t feel like so much of a chore and you’ll be able to stick it out so much more easily.

Go to Bed Earlier
An earlier bedtime will make getting up in the morning much less painful. Not only is a lack of sleep unpleasant but if you’ve been doing it for a while, you put yourself at risk of fatal diseases including different cancers. Our bodies need sufficient rest and sleep, or in the long run things can start seriously going wrong. We all lead busy lifestyles but make sleep a priority rather than an afterthought. Get into a good routine, and your body will naturally start feeling tired at the right time. Avoid that midday coffee, since caffeine can stay in the system for a surprisingly long period of time and could stop you dozing off at night.

Adults Only: Grown Up Drinking Games You’ll Love

4697140018_ed1c679bf5_b-2.jpg
Flickr Image: Joel Gonsalves

Our social calendar gets more than a little full in December thanks to neighborhood cheese and wine evenings, late night shopping invites, festive dinners and the ubiquitous office Christmas party. Whether you love or loathe all this forced merriment, surely the appearance of free alcohol, posh canap├ęs and the rarity of your boss treating you like an actual human being instead of an Excel robot is worth it? Go ahead, pop your party hat on, grab a glass of wine and round up some workmates, friends or neighbors for some of these very mature party games.

Have You Ever?
The premise of Have You Ever is quite simple. You’ll need about six players for a really lively game and you start asking questions, leading with have you ever? If anyone in the group as indeed done whatever it was, they then take a drink, typically around two large sips worth while everyone else waits for the next question. This game tends to start off quite innocently with questions like have you ever been abroad? Then, depending on who’s playing, quickly descends into something a bit more, ahem, free spirited. Be careful what questions you choose to ask if you know your mates have done something because they will punish you by picking very specific ones of their own.

Cards Against Humanity
This game is not for anyone who’s easily offended, gets upset by things such as animal torture, dead children or even porn. Put simply, the object of cards against humanity is to pick the most depraved answer possible from a stack of cards. You'll need say, five to eight players, and each player is dealt, face down, around seven black cards. Each player also gets a turn at being the ‘host’ as they pick another card, white this time, that’s turned face up In the middle. The white card will pose a question, make a statement or ask you to fill in a blank. Have a good look at your black cards, try not to faint, then decide which one fits the question. Hint, you’re looking for the worst answer possible. Once all the group answers the host decides on the winner and the then losers drink. Cards Against Humanity expansion packs are available; you can even get versions for each country such as cards against humanity Australia but be warned this game is brilliant but very derogatory.

Shot Roulette
Like taking risks? Enjoy casino games? Then you’ll love Shot Roulette, a booze-based version of a Monte Carlo classic. Suitable for two to eight players the game comes with steel roulette balls, wheel, board and sixteen shot glasses. It works the same way as the traditional version, throw the ball onto the wheel, and where it stops, well, that’s the shot you drink. Make the game more fun by choosing sixteen different types of alcohol, one for each shot glass, because who doesn't love mixing whiskey, vodka, and malibu? You’ll quickly find out who’ll drink anything and who has more refined tastes, not to mention commiserating with the unlucky mate who’s been consecutively drinking peach schnapps and’s insisting the wheel's rigged!
