Lift It! Work Out Your Stress

Adrenaline is a beautiful feeling and thankfully, you have it in spades. When we are afraid, angry or even excited, you get a flood of adrenaline in the system and it’s this that gives us our ‘fight or flight’ response. Life can be stressful and when we are stressed to the extreme, our bodies flood with adrenaline as a reaction but sometimes you can turn this reaction to your advantage. Stress can make us, well, a little crazy. For some, they turn to chocolate and cake and eat their feelings. The sugar hit sends signals to the brain and immediately can calm them down – science! For others, releasing stress is directly linked to physical exercise. When stress starts to affect the brain, the rest of the body feels the impact. We go through stress when life is hard – such as lost jobs and lost friends, as well as good, such as our wedding day.
After a hard exercise session, you often feel exhausted but exhilarated. Happy that the workout is done, happy with what you’ve achieved and happy that you are going to be aiming toward a healthier version of yourself. Participation in regular exercise can keep the overall levels of tension in your life down, elevate your mood and improve your sleep pattern. This is all the best way to improve your confidence. If you are interested in fitness this year, you’ll find that you’ll release a lot of the stress you may be sitting on, just by running or punching out a hanging bag. That pure energy release dispenses all the pent-up frustration and gives the adrenaline somewhere to go and that is addictive. One of your New Year’s Resolutions may have been to reduce your stress and you can combine a resolution of getting fit with this.

Working out in the gym can help you work out the stresses in your life, and not just because of the adrenaline. Taking the time in the gym to learn to run or lift weights with a trainer will not only be great for your general health and wellbeing, but will give you the time to think. If you are about to get married, or plan an engagement, your stress levels will likely be a lot higher than usual! All that exercise will help you go a long way to looking fantastic for your wedding Photographer. Your self-esteem can fly through the roof when you feel beautiful on a day like your wedding day, and if you have managed to exercise your way into a smaller dress size, your stress levels will come right down.
Ultimately, you have to work out a way to see yourself through tough times and turning to exercise and mindful eating is far preferable to turning to substances. Treat your body like a temple and watch the domino effect on your life sort out your mood with just one simple change. You can work through any level of stress, as long as you put your mind – and your energy – to it.
