Does the idea of stripping down to a bikini fill you with dread? As much fun as the summer is, feeling self-conscious about your body is never nice- and when the weather is warm, those insecurities really can come to the surface. Skimpy summer clothes and swimwear don’t leave much to the imagination, so it’s no wonder the thought of it sends so many of us running for the hills. But don’t fret, there are a few ways you can boost your confidence and get that body bikini ready for this summer.
Lose Weight and/or Tone Up
If you don’t like how you look in a bikini, chances are it’s due to your size or shape. Losing just a few pounds and hitting the gym could be enough to drastically improve how you feel about your body. Avoid the crash diets and crazy workout plans, simply eat clean and do a mixture of cardio and weights to slim and sculpt your figure. If you’re not overweight, don’t forfeit the gym. Toning your muscles and gaining a little definition as well as improving your shape will surely have you feeling more confident when you’re by the pool or at the beach!
Consider a Cosmetic Procedure
Sometimes diet and exercise is enough to give you the appearance you’re after. However, sometimes issues can be a little more stubborn. Maybe after pregnancy or weight loss, you’re left with excess skin? No amount of topical creams, exercise or healthy food will change this, and so a skin removal surgery may need to be considered. If you’re conscious of your breasts, implants or a reduction surgery could be the way to go. If you have stubborn areas of fat that don’t respond to diet or exercise, you could look into a laser liposuction procedure. These are useful as you don’t have to go under the knife, so there’s no healing time or risk of infection. And you can remove annoying fat deposits on areas like hips, legs or arms once and for all.
Shop For Flattering Swimwear
The right swimwear is so important and can be the difference between feeling awful and feeling confident. If you’re bigger busted, choose a bikini top with underwiring and which offers support for the best look. If you’re conscious of your legs or bottom, how about boy shorts bikini bottoms or a swim skirt? A tankini or one piece suit would work well if you want to hide your stomach, and a swim dress can hide a multitude of issues and look very flattering.
Get a Tan
Finally, regardless of your shape or size, a tan can make anyone look fantastic! Many people report feeling slimmer when they have a tan, and if you’re very pale, it’s sure to make you look a little healthier when you strip down to your swimwear. Always be sure to tan safely, apply SPF and build it up gradually to avoid burning.
