Pressure On? Ask Your Boss About Working From Home

Ok, so some people may laugh at the idea of approaching your boss and requesting a little space to work from home.  However you might be struggling due to changes in your personal life and if something doesn’t give, you may need to hand in your resignation and look for something that works for you.  If you think you are a valuable player and love your current job then maybe it’s time to talk to your boss.  He might just value you, more than you think!

First thing is to be prepared to be completely honest about your situation.  You need to be clear and try to keep emotion to a minimum whilst making your reasons relatable.  It may help to consider a few benefits for your boss so why not mention a couple of these ideas.

Firstly, you will spend less time commuting which will mean you can start work earlier and finish work later.  This makes a far better use of your time than sitting on a train for 30 minutes at the start and end of each working day.

A recent study revealed that employees are 13 percent more productive when they work from their own desk at home than when they are in the office.  So not only will your company be getting more of your time, they will also be getting more productivity to boot.

It’s no longer awkward to have staff out of the office, thanks to the connectivity of our new world.  With the internet and mobile phones we can pick up all our emails and have calls diverted meaning we don’t miss a thing.

It could be worth having a chat with hr advice consultants, Croner.  They can help you talk through options and give you some tips on how to make the situation work for both the company you are working for and you.

There is a lot to be said for having employees working from home.  Studies have shown that those working in their home environment are happier, it is also a really good PR spin.  Yahoo recently was all over the news when it announced it was supporting home working hours.

Gather up as much information as you can and pitch the idea to your boss.  It may be that you need to prove you’re able to take on the challenges of working from home, so why not consider suggesting a trial period or starting slowly with one afternoon or day per week.

Most company bosses will want to keep hold of quality staff and so if they can, they will make allowances to see you through the rough times.  Just make sure you don’t let them down!

Working from home can be tough, you have to be completely self motivated and ordered.  It is easy to spend the day working in your pyjamas or grazing in the kitchen.  So before you spend an afternoon pitching the idea to your company, sit down and really make sure this is the right solution for both of you.  Talk to your family and friends and make sure, if there are pressures at home, you are dealing with them and not just changing your life to accommodate them.

Food Spa: Clean Up Your Diet

I think we ought to set out from the beginning this is not an article which is going to talk about the ever growing trend of clean eating.  What started as a simple concept has now grown into a minefield of rules and regulations which, quite frankly, are almost impossible to keep up with.  Instead we are going to focus on a few brilliant changes you can make to your diet to give your body a little detox, without having to break out the juicer and starve yourself for a week.

Firstly, Spirulina.  This is an incredible natural algae which, honestly? tastes horrendous.  However it is a superhero when it comes to your body and we highly recommend you master the art of holding your nose and knocking it back in a shot.  Forget wheatgrass.  Spirulina is 65% protein and 95% of that protein is digestible.  It contains sources of ALL EIGHT essential amino acids including Omega 3 fatty acids.  But the real miracle of this super green powder is it’s natural detoxing power.  High in Chlorophyll means it acts as a detox by flushing toxins out of your body.  It’s a great boost for your immune system too.  Spirulina is also high in betacarotene which is also an antioxidant.  Again great for the immune system but also fantastic for the skin.  With the ability to raise your resting metabolism too, you can help increase your weight loss.  If you truly can’t stomach the taste then you can buy the powder in capsule form and make a small improvement to your diet

Freekeh is going to be part of all the best diets 2017 lists on the internet.  This brilliant little grain has been the staple diet for most of Palestine and the Middle East.  It has a sort of smoky flavour and delicately green in colour, almost light sage.  Freekeh is especially good for helping the body detox because it is packed with fiber and protein, nearly twice as much as quinoa.  It also acts like a natural prebiotic so fills your gut with the good bacteria.  You definitely need to make room for this in your cupboard if you are looking to cleanse your system without taking drastic actions.  Although beware, it is a grain and it does contain gluten so if you are a gluten free diet, you will have to avoid it.

Avocado is like nature’s band aid for your stomach.  First off it is packed with plenty of omega 3 which we all know is essential for heart health.  However in our stomachs, avocado has proved to be one of the most effective natural healers of the liver really helping to deliver a detox effect and flush out all those nasty toxins.  It also has an amazing blend of oils (namely linalool and geranyl acetate) that have proved to have a positive impact on irritable bowel syndrome

So, you don’t have to starve yourself to help your body detox itself.  Just learn a little more about the food you put into your body and let nature assist you in doing what you were made to do.

The Items that Will Make Camping Even Better

15623526747_4e384387a3_z.jpg

Whether you’re a seasoned camper or you’re new to the outdoor living experience, there are lots of tools that can help you enjoy your time in nature a lot more. Although there are more great gadgets than I could pack into one post, I’ve selected some of the best. So, without further ado, here are the items that will make camping even better for you:
A Penknife
It’s an oldie, but when you’re packing for your next camping trip, a penknife should be right on top of your list, next to your tent and sleeping bag. Penknives can be used for everything from cutting yourself free from tangles to opening cans and everything in between. TentsAndCampGear.com has a great guide to buying penknives, which I suggest you check out if you don’t already have one.
The Scrubba Wash Pack
Although you don’t exactly have to be the model of a fashionable traveller when camping, if you are going to be camping for more than a couple of days, pack a Scrubba Wash Pack and you will never have to worry about clean clothes again. The pack , which weighs just 5 ounces is able to wash a day’s worth of clothing with nothing more than a little bio-soap – you don’t even need water or power! You can find out more about the Scrubba Wash Pack at TheScrubba.com.
A Solar Lantern

You might not have any electricity when you’re camping in the wilderness, but that doesn’t means that you have to stumble around in the darkness. A good portable solar lantern can give out as much as 12 hours of light and can be deflated to fit in your pack. Carry one with you so you can read, cook and get around in the dark.
A Portable Coffee Maker
If the thought of going even a day fills you with dread, but you can’t bear that horrible instant stuff, invest in a Handpresso, which can be purchased at Amazon.com and you’ll be able to grind your own coffee while you sit round the campfire.
A Pop-Up Tent
Investing in a pop-up tent will make your life a lot easier, especially if you’re not used to pitching your camping shelter. It’ll save you a lot of time and effort battling with tent pegs and you’ll be able to enjoy your trip that bit sooner.
A Hammock

Hammocks are the most comfortable way to sleep outdoors, providing the weather is favourable. You can even buy hammocks fit for tow, so if you’re camping with your sweetheart and you want to get cosy, order a hammock today!

A Collapsible Kayak
If you want to have some action and adventure in the water, but you don’t want to lug around heavy equipment, invest in a collapsible kayak, like the ones at orukayaki.com, which weight just 35 pounds, but which can support weights of up to 300 pounds, and make a splash.
I hope this post has given you some handy ideas for making the most of your next camping trip. Do let me know how your next camping trip goes.

Beep Beep! How To Prevent Things Going Wrong With Your Car

The majority of us have a car, and those that do know that there is a lot that can go wrong. It’s like it’s a given; we wait with baited breath for something to go wrong, hoping that we can get from service to service with nothing going wrong in between. If you look after your vehicle well, this shouldn’t be a problem - but not all of us are fully tuned to the needs and wants of a machine.  But there are some really simple things that you can try and get yourself into the routine of doing to save yourself on huge bills from the mechanics in the long-run should anything fail.

Service
If you keep up a yearly car service, the technician will be able to pinpoint any minor faults that could lead to major problems if not fixed straight away. Although most people are skeptical following a service regarding what does and doesn’t need doing (i.e. which one is beneficial to you and which is beneficial for the mechanic’s back pocket), the majority of the time these are jobs that you can get a second opinion on just to clarify should there be any doubt. It could be that you disregard the word of the mechanic before it’s all too late.

Water & Coolant
Just like our bodies, your car needs a certain amount of water (or fluid such as coolant) to keep itself ticking nicely. Next to your engine you will have a coolant tank which is designed to hold enough coolant (or water … you’ll notice it’s interchangeable dependent on how desperate you are) to stop your car from overheating. When your engine works itself up and doesn’t have anything to cool itself down, this spells disaster for your car - the most common problem to occur is the head gasket blowing, which could mean hundreds if not thousands spent in labour to replace it. Keep your eye on the coolant level and if it’s dipping too low, make sure you get an appointment to get your car checked out for any leaks that may be there.

Oil
There’s a dipstick under the bonnet which, when wiped, will be able to accurately tell you if it needs topping up or is fine for the foreseeable future. There are some basic tutorials online to help you out should you need to add any oil to your engine, but it’s a simple enough job to master - and one that could potentially save your engine. If an engine is running without oil it will instantly seize and stop working, and the damage done could potentially be irreversible; the parts often just fuse into each other due to the heat and cannot be salvaged.

Keep Clean
If you keep your car clean and tidy, you are more likely to spot anything going wrong with it. A pull on the car could mean that your tyres are wearing down or that you’re carrying too much stuff on one side - it’s up to you to make the call.

Fashion Tips For The Frequent Traveller

Life is best when it is busy. When you are busy you don’t have time to worry about inconsequential details that would otherwise get you down. All you have to worry about it being in the right place at the right time and killing it. Well, that isn’t all you have to worry about because you will want to look your best. After all looking good is feeling good and that is the first tip to success. For the women that have to constantly travel this might seem like a pipedream but it can be your reality. All you have to do is take a look at these tips and add them to your style. Easy!
Dress Comfortably
There is no worse way to start off a trip than to be uncomfortable. Remember that some trips can be hours so you don’t want to sit there for ages waiting to get out of your clothes. Instead, you want to wear clothes that are relaxing and help you get through the journey. The trick is to lose the accessories. There is no need to wear a watch or rings while you are on a plane stuck in the same seat. Plus they will set off the metal detectors! A nice pair of jeans and a sweater is an effortlessly stylish outfit that won’t feel like you’re in a straight jacket.

Dress For Your Destination
Anyone that is a frequent flyer will understand this tip. It might seem like a good idea to wear a skirt when you leave but that will change when you land. The climate in one place might be totally different to your home town, and you will freeze to death. And there are no points for dying, that is just a fashion faux pas! The most fashionable people are the ones that mix style with substance. So, think about where you are going and what the weather will be like and dress accordingly. A good tip is to put the extra items in your travel bag for when you get to your destination.

Don’t Be Afraid Of Socks
Socks are just one example of a fashion accessory that can make travelling less painful. The right socks will help with everything from deep vein thrombosis to reducing swelling. These ailments aren’t uncommon especially if you have a long trip, so you should think before you dress. Socks aren’t the only helpful accessories out there but they are one of the best. Tights are also a good option if you have compression tights.
Don’t Care What People Think
You would normally care what people thought about you when you are out in public. The great thing about travelling is that you don’t have to care. Travelling is a free pass to look your worst and get away it because you’ve been on a plane or in a car for hours. Questions like how to wear over the knee boots without looking trashy or how to look fresh are good questions but they don’t always need answering.
Travelling has never been so fashionable!

Become a Girl Boss With Your Own Jewelry Business

So, you want to start your own jewelry business? So many women out there are deciding to become entrepreneurs, rather than earn money for somebody else. How can you do the same? If you’re passionate about jewelry, read on to find out how you can become a girl boss with your own jewelry business:

Come Up With Your Business Name
Your business name is crucial, as people will be speaking it for years to come if you’re successful. A catchy business name that describes you perfectly is important. You also need to check that it’s available as a domain name for your own website before you set your heart on something. Make sure you don’t limit your business with the name. If you call it ‘Sarah’s Rings’ and then start selling necklaces and bracelets too, people might not realize and not go to you for their necklace/bracelet needs.

Make It Yourself Or Buy From A Wholesalers?
When you want to start your own jewelry business, you need to decide whether you’ll make it yourself or buy from a wholesalers. If you have skills in jewelry making, it only makes sense to make and sell your own creations. If you don’t but you think this could be a lucrative business opportunity for you, then you could buy pieces from a wholesalers. Looking at things like ELF925 sterling silver 925 rings should give you an idea of what’s out there. Make sure you know what you want your brand to represent and have an idea of what’s trendy before you buy!

Choose Your Platform/Platforms
Now you need to choose your platform, or the platforms you’re going to use to sell your creations. You have so many options here. You could use eBay, Etsy, Facebook, and even create your own website. You could also sell to other sites at a cheaper price, striking up a wholesale deal, if making the creations yourself. Make sure you know how to effectively use each platform.

Market Your Business
Marketing your business is key to success! You can have the best products in the world, but if you’re not marketing them right, people aren’t going to find you. You definitely won’t experience the level of success that you could be having. You can market your business using social media, doing things like blogging and vlogging. You can also market your business in person, using business cards and going to craft fairs. Hiring a professional to take care of that side of things for you is a good idea, as they can set up PPC adverts and SEO campaigns, helping you to experience the highest level of success.

Learn As You Go Along
If you wait until you know everything before starting your own business, you’ll never start. Learning before is important, but so is learning as you go along.

Ready to become a girl boss? You’ll also have to research on setting up a business in your area, as there may be permits and different things you have to get before you begin. Good luck!

Thinking Outside the Box for Beauty

There are some things in life that no amount of clothes, makeup or mantras will be able to make you feel better on. When it comes to loving your body, you know what will make you feel more confident and how to achieve it. It may be something as simple as a diet or exercise to take away the extra pounds, or wearing something that flatters your body.

For those things that you can’t quite figure out how to address, take a step back and see if what you’re doing is the right thing to achieve your goal.

Can you tie them in a knot, can you tie them in a bow?
For many, your breasts can be the one main thing that defines you as a woman. So far has social stigma developed around our mammaries that we barely consider their intended use anymore - we are using them as a symbol of our sexuality and prowess. If you are hung up on how your boobs look, it could be as simple as getting measured correctly for the right bra. It may even be the style of bra that you are wearing; padded bras can add a little extra that you may be lacking, and balcony bras offer a style of sexiness should that be the look that you are after. If the confidence issue is rooted more deeply than something a bra can fix, breast augmentation surgery may be the step that you have to take in order to give yourself the body that you desire.

Pucker Up!
We are living in the Kylie Jenner era, and as such too many of us are becoming self-conscious about the size of our lips. Whereas we used to dismiss big lips as a Barbie-doll look, we are now craving to look like the youngest of the Kardashian clan; perhaps as a way of keeping up with celebrity trends if nothing else. Lip kits are available with a combination of liner and gloss in order to give your pout a fuller appearance, but if you are struggling to achieve the look that you want then cosmetic fillers are available. Usually given in quantities of one or two millilitres, these injections give a temporary fullness to your lips, and should only be performed by a trained consultant. There are other (probably less painful) alternatives to getting fillers, which involve using extreme pressure on your lips to bring the blood to them and make them stand out - sort of similar to sucking the air out of a mug and it sticking to your face. It’s not the most recommended method as it can lead to bruising and marks if not done correctly, but it’s a cheap alternative nonetheless.

Raise it!
Eyebrows are becoming a huge focal point now on our faces. The trend with eyebrows is ever-changing; think back throughout the years and look back on previous photos of yourself. You may find that they’ve gone from being barely there to overgrown to perfectly manicured within the space of a couple of years, and this is purely due to keeping up with the styles and trends that are put in front of us by celebrities. There are so many things that can be done with eyebrows in order to get them looking just-so and the way that you want. These can range from permanent (you can get tattoos in place of your eyebrows so you will know that you never have a hair out of place) to the now popular microblading, which involves putting a semi-permanent pigment under your skin with a tiny needle. Kind of like tattooing but the results won’t stay on your face forever. Or you could keep it simple and get your brows waxed, threaded or plucked and fill in with a variety of different products that have been developed for shaping - these range from pencils to powders to gels, and come in a variety of different colours to suit your hair (either on your face or on your head). You won’t be caught short on what to use in order to get your eyebrows looking fantastic again. But remember - your eyebrows are sisters, not twins. You don’t have to work on getting them looking exactly the same (you’ll probably be sat there forever and day if you did), as quite frankly it can look plain weird if your brows match perfectly. Very few of us have symmetrical faces, so don’t aim for the outcome as if you do; work with what you’ve got (or pay someone to work with what you’ve got) and you’ll do just fine.

Let's Put The Spotlight On Your Career

Sometimes people can get a little disheartened with the day job. Perhaps finding it overwhelming or stressful because of various different reasons. However, for many a large chunk of our time is spent doing this job and earning a wage to live, so it’s vital that you get some sort of satisfaction from it. Be that being money motivated specifically or enjoying the work you do. But when was the last time you placed the spotlight on your career? When was the last time you concentrated on the next step, or where you want to be in five or ten years time? Everyone can lose focus. So here are some tips to ensure that you get that spotlight back where you need it to be, in your daily life and career prospects.

pexels-photo-209734.jpeg

Are you making as much effort in your job as you could be?

Everyone can get complacent with their job, a lot of that can be to do with boredom or a lack of variety in your role. So a good move would be to decipher and remember exactly why you took on that job in the first place. If the wages were desirable what has changed? Do you want more, could you do more? If it was the job satisfaction that made you take that step into your current job role has anything changed? Do you still love it? Could you be doing more? The main questions would be whether or not you are ready for the next step in your career, more responsibility or workload? All of which can help you gain more clarity on your career and the way you want it to go moving forward.

Are you wearing the right work attire and do you look professional?

Boredom can creep into any job role. With that, you can get a little fed up with your daily routine and productivity. So your main focus would be how you approach your working day. Do you dress professionally in the right work attire? Perhaps you are a medical professional, and this is when you would see Uniforms and Scrubs being a vital part of your job. Just as much as any professional in an office environment would want to look the par. Everyone can make a snap judgment on someone from their appearance, if you don’t look the part for work, then when you see yourself you certainly won’t feel the part yourself. It can have a detrimental effect on your mindset.

Have you got the right mindset and goals in place?

On the subject of mindset, people can often forget how much of a powerful tool it is, and how much influence it can have on your daily decisions. Having a negative mindset can certainly make you question your choices, especially when it comes to your career. Focus on your thoughts for a moment and listen to the voice in your head, are you negative or positive about something? If you are struggling with your mindset then there some great techniques and guides online to help you become more positive.
